Basketball Zone Results

A huge thank you for all the support showed to our teams over the weekend… The atmosphere in the FCHS gym was truly awesome!

Friday’s SR Boys basketball game saw what was probably the biggest crowd for a basketball game at the Comp. Ever! The bleachers were half-full thirty minutes before the HTA game resulting in standing room only.

The atmosphere was incredible! The adrenaline from the crowd kicked into overdrive and inspired a great defensive effort by our boys.

We made some minor offensive adjustments for the second half and the boys took to the Knights. The defense remained consistent, but the offense exploded, dropping 26 points in the 3rd quarter with 5 players scoring multiple baskets. In the 4th quarter we saw the very best of our boys as the offence continued to role, dropping another 25 points. The defense tightened down even more holding the Knights to just 5 points in the final frame!

The team contributions were led by our seniors – Logan R. was in attack mode all night and chipped in 10 points; Jaxen P. overcame early foul trouble and hit big shots in the 4th quarter; Josh P. hit some clutch 3’s to begin the offensive onslaught of the second half; Justin C. saw double, triple, and even quadruple teams all night but still scored 9 and pulled down 15 rebounds; Hunter B. led the team offensively, cashing in for 27 points; Jared S. and Cam B. both added big minutes off the bench and scored 8 and 9 points respectively. Great team effort!

The boys are on their way to Provincials this week (Wed – Fri), in Edmonton. Read more online.

The SR Girls bested HTA at home in front of an awesome crowd, to advance to Provincials later this week. Read more online.

The JV Boys played great this weekend and were able to beat HTA in the zone final by 13.  This is a very special group of boys who represented our school to the highest level.  These boys worked hard all season to claim the League and Zone banners. The boys are on their way to Provincials this week (Wed – Fri), in Edmonton.

The JV Girls finished with a couple of wins, losing to Bow Valley in the opening game of the Zone playoffs Friday. This sent us to the consolation side where we won against Springbank and, if it’s any consolation, played their best game against HTA winning 69-33.

To recap, our SR Boys, SR Girls, and JV Boys teams are moving on to Provincials this week, held in Edmonton, Wed – Fri, March 13-15.
