Covid 19 Falcons Athletics Letter
RE: Falcons Athletics Memo Covid - 19
Foothills Composite High School classes have begun and our year is off and running. Athletics at FCHS is going to look a little different than it has in the past due to Provincial guidelines and the ongoing pandemic.
High school sports are sanctioned by the ASAA (Alberta Schools Athletic Association) who made the difficult decision to postpone all fall championships and suspend any game play or competitions until further notice. This decision was reversed this week, allowing School Divisions to permit game play following AHS guidelines. This decision does not mean that sports will be starting up at FCHS and we will be back to a regular athletics schedule.
For right now, following the direction of Foothills School Division and Alberta Health Services we are permitted to run skill development sessions for our athletes in ASAA sanctioned fall sports (Football, Cross-Country, Volleyball). Please click on the following link to access the School Relaunch Handbook (page 35).
FCHS is hoping to provide a volleyball academy and football skills academy throughout the Fall sport season. We are hoping to start these Academies shortly after Thursday October 1st. These academies will focus around conditioning, skill development, strength and agility. Our hope is that we will continue to build and strengthen our outstanding programs with the hope that we will be able to return to play this season.
Foothills School Division is currently only allowing student athletes to be a part of a single cohort outside of school. Should your son/daughter already be a part of a cohort outside of the school they unfortunately would not be able to participate in any of these academies until they have completed the mandatory 14 day isolation period (See link above). Should you have any further questions regarding these events, please do not hesitate to email me directly.
