Legal Studies

Credits: every student will earn a minimum of 6 credits
Prerequisite: None (restricted to grade 11 and 12 students)

This course offers students the opportunity to learn basic and practical information about the law, the ways in which it impacts daily life, and how students can participate in its evolution.

LGS3080 Criminal Law
A study of the criminal justice system including criminal law processes, roles and responsibilities.

LGS3040 Negligence
Students use cases to explore the legal meaning of negligence and the basic requirements to take legal action.

LGS3060 Controversy and Change
Students explore how issues evoke responses that may bring about changes in the law and focus on a wide variety of strategies that may be used.

LGS3020 Conflict Resolution
Students have opportunity to apply negotiation, mediation, arbitration and adjudication to resolve conflicts.

LGS3910 Project Module
Students develop project design and management skills to extend and enhance competencies and skills in other Career and Technology (CTS) courses through contexts that are personally relevant.
